Every girl should have the skills, confidence, and savvy to become who she wants to be.
Building on more than a decade of designing, localizing, and supporting mentoring programs with our flagship partner in Tanzania, Daring Girls supports UNESCO Award Winning girls’ mentoring programming designed to help girls succeed in their education, and in life. We support needs as they are defined by our local partners who live and work in the communities they serve. The programs we support were designed with the involvement of adolescent girls, their peers, families and wider communities to ensure stakeholder participation.
We carry out our mission in three key ways:
Support for GLAMI Operations & Programs
For more than two decades we have supported locally led mentoring programing through our flagship partner and sister organization, GLAMI. Through their two UNESCO Award Winning programs, Kisa Project and Binti Shupavu, GLAMI mentors secondary school girls in Tanzania to complete their education, develop into confident leaders, and transform their own lives and their communities.
Piloting the Expansion of Locally Led Mentoring Programs
In January 2023, Daring Girls and GLAMI launched a pilot initiative seeking partners outside Tanzania that believed Kisa Project or Binti Shupavu would be good fit for girls in their community. Through a rigorous selection and review process, we selected our first partner, which is currently receiving training, technical assistance, and support as they localize their selected curriculum for the specific needs of girls in their community.
Wraparound Support for Partners & Alumnae
Needs change. That’s why we work to provide additional support outside our programmatic agreements. Whether that’s helping program alumnae access knowledge and resources they believe will add to the growth of their businesses or helping our local partners connect with new opportunities to expand their reach or identify new sources of funding, we strive to provide holistic, responsive support that helps our partners thrive.
