October 11 is International Day of the Girl. But with your help, we’ll be shining a light on girls all month long – because the stakes for girls are high:
- There are 16.7 million girls out of school in sub-Saharan Africa, 9.3 million of which will never set foot in a classroom. (UNESCO)
- Every additional year of schooling raises a young person’s future earnings. In Tanzania, every year of schooling completed increases a student’s future wages by 18%. (H.A. Patrinos, C.E. Montenegro, 2021)
Mentorship Paired with a Skills Based Curriculum Keeps Girls in School and Prepares them for the Future
Help start a conversation in your community! Light up the night in your neighborhood with a night hike or an evening neighborhood stroll in support of Daring Girls and secondary school girls in Africa. The awareness you raise and the donations you collect will help us support UNESCO Award Winning mentoring programs proven to help girls reach their goals in school, and in life. Because you believe, like we do, that every girl should have the chance to develop the skills, confidence, and savvy to dare to become who she wants to be.
