GLAMI Presents at 1st African Union Pan-African Conference on Girls’ and Women’s Education July 4 (and you can watch!)

Monica Swai, GLAMI’s Senior Director of Operations, is in Addis Ababa from July 2-5 at the invitation of UNESCO to speak at the 1st African Union Pan-African Conference on Girls’ and Women’s Education.

The conference is being held in recognition of 2024 as the African Union Year of Education under the theme ‘Educate an African fit for the 21st Century: Building resilient education systems for increased access to inclusive, lifelong, quality, and relevant learning in Africa’, and intends to convene key voices on girls’ and women’s education.

At 4:30pm EAT on Thursday, July 4, Monica will discuss GLAMI’s work to help secondary school girls through education transitions at a panel of African laureates of the UNESCO Prize for Girls’ and Women’s Education. GLAMI was recognized with the 2022 prize, the first organization from Tanzania to receive this honor.
